    As a Therma-Tru Continuous Improvement Engineer you will lead the Continuous Improvement culture in the Butler Manufacturing Operations as well as company-wide. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will drive improvements through all facets of the Value Stream from supplier to customer. This position is essential in developing a culture of continuous improvement.

    The Continuous Improvement Engineer must act as a safety champion in the Butler Manufacturing Operations and drive safety improvements daily through the following actions:

     

    1)      Actively participate in the VBS (Values Based Safety) Program

    2)      Participate in incident investigations and resolutions

    3)      Develop process improvements with a “safety first” attitude

    4)      Immediately address any potential safety issues with the appropriate personnel

    5)      Review and evaluate ergonomic and safety concerns and risks for all activities and projects

     

    Focus on safety and ergonomics are a required and essential part of this role. The CIE must act as a change agent and strive to continuously improve and develop a safety focused culture.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Act as an agent for cultural change and challenge the status quo
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through associate development, involvement, and training
    • Lead and facilitate process improvements and strategic capital projects
    • Drive process improvements through facilitating focused events for 5S, kaizen, SMED
    • Lead cross functional teams in utilizing value stream mapping to define current and future state
    • Support the development and use of plant standards for 5S and visual management
    • Deliver continuous improvement related training material to both hourly and salary associates
    • Coach teams to identify 8 wastes and how to reduce waste using Lean tools and root cause analysis
    • Lead improvements in material flow, material handling, and layout (Kanban, PFEP, sequencing, kitting)
    • Collaborate with plant and corporate Continuous Improvement teams to share best practices

    Requirements:

    • 4 year technical degree required, Industrial or Industrial Systems Engineer preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years of lean, 6 Sigma, Kaizen or continuous improvement experience
    • Six Sigma Green Belt certification, Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
    • Knowledge and application of improvement tools including PDCA, SMED, VSM, 8D Problem Solving, and 5S
    • Passion and drive to continuously improve
    • Proven interpersonal & communication skills at all organizational levels
    • Knowledge of Therma-Tru business processes and group interactions preferred
    • Proven & effective facilitation, leadership, mentoring, and training skills
